New ACPD Community Engagement Division Formed to Strengthen Community Outreach  

While ACPD has focused on community and business outreach for many years, thnew Community Engagement Division will strengthen the County’s commitment to public safety and enhance relationships across our community. Led by Deputy Chief Wayne Vincent, the new division includes the Community Outreach Unit, Business Outreach Unit. Arlington Restaurant Initiative and the Homeless Outreach Program. The Division is committed to fair and just policing and continuing open communications with all members of the community.  


Update on Implementation of Police Practices Group Recommendations 

Following events involving policing and racial justice across the United States, the Arlington County Board asked the County Manager to lead a review of police policies and practices to ensure ACPD is current with policing best practices and can continue to build trust in the community. 


Proposed Repeal of “Failure to ID” 

As part of the June 12 County Board meeting, the County Board will  consider the request to repeal, reenact and recodify Chapter 17 of the Arlington County Codeto “update outdated references to state statutes, remove provisions conflicting with state and federal laws, repeal the law that makes refusal to identify oneself at the request of a police officer a criminal act, and modernize provisions to reflect current practice.” 


County Board Meetings on Civilian Review Board 

The Arlington County Board will be holding work sessions and listening sessions about the proposed draft Law Enforcement Civilian Review Board (CRB). View the draft ordinance and the meeting dates and opportunities to provide feedback on the process:
