 Map highlighting the project area
Construction for streetscape improvements and utility undergrounding along Washington Boulevard and 13th Street North is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 15. Initial activities will include installing protection for trees and catch basins and mobilizing equipment.
This project will convert Washington Boulevard between Clarendon Circle and North Kirkwood Road into a four-lane road by removing the reversible lane and eliminating the “pork chop” at the 13th Street intersection. 13th Street North will be realigned to create a conventional “T” intersection at Washington Boulevard.
What to expect during construction:
- Work hours will be 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, during activities that require a temporary lane closure.
- Detour signage will direct vehicles and pedestrians around construction zones.
- The contractor will use an area at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and North Johnson Street, where three buildings were demolished, as a staging area.
