• Cook at home or order from some of the many restaurants offering dine in or carry-out Thanksgiving specialties.  
• County offices & services will be closed Thu. Nov. 26 & Fri. Nov. 27. Check the trash pickup schedule and more.

Board Issues FY 2022 Budget Guidance 

The County Board has directed the County Manager to focus on supporting those residents and businesses hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic when preparing the Proposed Fiscal Year 2022 Budget. 

• Virginia Governor Northam announces new measures to contain COVID-19, including a limits on in-person gatherings and more.
• New guidance from the CDC notes that masks offer some protection to you as well to those around you.

• The Police, Fire & Sheriff departments will begin wearing body cameras in early 2021. Provide your feedback on policies related to body worn, vehicle and interview cameras on the draft Digital Evidence Management System policies through Nov. 29.
• Help with the police chief search process by taking this online assessment or attending an online community forum. 
• Green Valley’s Town Square has been named for civic activist John Robinson, Jr., who fought against racial injustice and inequality in northern Virginia. 
• Arlington’s Restorative Justice Plan provides a framework for the County to adopt these practices in our public schools, legal system, and community settings. 
• Your confidential comments on the race & equity assessment will help us get a better understanding of what we’re getting right & where we need to improve. 
• New office space and retail are coming to Crystal Gateway along with land for Gateway Park, which will connect Long Bridge Park to Crystal City. 
• Share your thoughts on Arlington’s history, heritage and historic preservation work to assist in the update of the Historic Preservation Master Plan.  
• Connect to the County’s free outdoor Wi-Fi Hotspots by using ArlingtonWireless. No ID or password required. 
• Arlington Convention and Visitors Service receives $10,000 Virginia Tourism Corporation recovery grant. 
• Apply online for a tree to be planted in your yard in spring 2021 as part of the Tree Canopy Fund Grant Program.   
• The Capital Area Food Bank will be distributing fresh produce at Arlington Mill Community Center to all residents in need of food assistance on Nov. 21. 
• Recycling food scraps curbside via the green organics cart is under consideration. Let us know what you think about adding this service.
