Please join members of the Arlington Complete Count Committee and 2020 Census Partners for this time-sensitive conversation to discuss recent changes to the Census timeline, understand potential impacts for Arlington residents, and explore strategies to ensure that we have a complete count in Arlington and the region.
As you may have heard, September 30 is now the deadline for completing the 2020 Census and nearly 30% of Arlington still needs to be counted. Though the expedited deadline has posed obstacles to ensuring a fair, accurate and complete count, we are accepting the challenge and are committed to continue our efforts to get as many self-responses as possible in the coming weeks.
Special guests include Arlington County Board Members Takis Karantonis and Matt de Ferranti, APS School Board Member Barbara Kanninen, and Beth Lynk, Director of the Census Count Campaign with the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. We will also get updates on Census Bureau Operations, review low response areas in Arlington, and explore additional strategies for ensuring a complete count.
Now is the time to double down on our community outreach, social media engagement, and making sure that everyone in Arlington knows why it’s important to participate in the 2020 Census and how to BE counted.
