Columbia Pike west end construction update
(For work between South Jefferson Street and the Four Mile Run Bridge)
Two-week construction lookahead
The PDF document below describes construction activities planned for Monday, June 29 through Sunday, July 12. It also lists expected impacts including any additional lane closures, driveway impacts and sidewalk closures.
Items to note:
- Construction on the south side of Columbia Pike west of South Greenbrier Street is anticipated to begin on or about Thursday, July 9.
- One lane on South Dinwiddie Street will be closed 24/7 to facilitate installation of duct bank and construction of sidewalk, curb and gutter and roadway. One southbound and one northbound lane on Dinwiddie Street will stay open at all times.
- Half of each of the driveway entrances on the north side of Columbia Pike between South Dinwiddie Street and South Greenbrier Street will be closed during roadway and driveway construction. Impacted properties include:
- Key Garden Apartments
- Arbor Heights Apartments
- Palazzo Condominiums
- Greenbrier Apartments
Transit stations construction update
Lane closure at Glebe Road this weekend
Crews are scheduled to pour concrete for the bus pad at the westbound Glebe Road station this weekend. The work requires a weekend-long lane closure.
Starting after 7 pm on Friday, June 26, the westbound curb lane on Columbia Pike near Glebe Road will be closed. The lane will remain closed all weekend and is expected to reopen early Monday morning, June 29.

ART 72 and 75 weekday bus service returning June 29
Starting on Monday, June 29, ART Routes 72 and 75 will return to weekday bus service.
ART 72 will operate a modified weekday schedule from 6:09 am to 9:33 pm. Buses will run every 30 minutes between Rock Spring, the Ballston Metro station and the Shirlington Bus Station.
ART 75 will operate a regular weekday schedule. The 5:30 am and 9:30 pm departures from Shirlington Bus Station and the 10:10 pm departure from Virginia Square Metro station will not operate.
