ice coloring

Ice Painting

Take this activity outside to color up the sidewalks! Check-out the full activity here.

What you need:

  • Ice Cube Tray
  • Water
  • Coloring (non-toxic paint), Kool-Aid or food coloring
  • Popsicle sticks, paintbrush or sponge
  • Optional: Paper

What to do:

  1. Squirt your paint color into the ice cube tray. Tip: The more coloring you put = the darker the paint will be, the less coloring = less color. Experimentation is part of the fun!
  2. Fill the tray with water.
  3. Place one stick in each cube mold. Use the stick to mix the coloring and water together.
  4. Place the tray in the freezer and let sit for a few hours.
  5. Go outside and paint a sidewalk, rocks or on paper. When the paint melts, save your sticks for another day of ice painting.
