SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

At approximately 8:00 PM TONIGHT (3/25), The District of Columbia will be issuing an emergency alert – requiring ALL DC non-essential businesses to close and asking residents to STAY HOME. Due to cell tower placement, some Arlington residents may receive this alert. This DC Order does NOT APPLY to Arlington.

Please note that the Arlington is following Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s statewide order to protect the health and safety of Virginians and reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. The Governor’s Executive Order Fifty-Three orders:

  • Closure of certain non-essential businesses
  • Bans all gatherings of more than 10 people
  • Closes all K-12 schools for the remainder of the academic year
  • Urges all Virginians to avoid non-essential travel outside the home, if and when possible

If you choose to go outside, please maintain a distance of 6 feet from people who are not a part of your household.

Arlington County is committed to the health and safety of our community and our employees and strongly urges everyone to change their daily behavior to reduce risk from COVID-19, particularly to protect our most vulnerable populations. Public health officials have noted evidence of community transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus in parts of Northern Virginia.  These are unprecedented times. To stop the spread of COVID-19, it is important that everyone take personal responsibility and practice social distancing and wash your hands frequently.
