Coming Soon: Peak period restrictions at Little Falls Road and Old Dominion Drive intersection

Later this month the County will implement turn-based movement restrictions for both Little Falls Road approaches to Old Dominion Drive. The change is intended to help address a crash trend at this location.

What’s changing

Drivers on Little Falls Road approaching the intersection of Old Dominion Drive will only be allowed to turn right between the hours of 7:00-9:30 am and 4:00-6:30 pm, Monday through Friday. No left turns or through movements will be allowed during these hours.

Why it’s changing

A crash trend at this location includes a high number of angle collisions involving drivers either turning left or continuing through the intersection from Little Falls Road.

When it’s changing

The restriction and accompanying signage will be installed by late August, before the start of the school year.

Public meeting next week for VDOT project to rehabilitate North Glebe Road Bridge

The Virginia Department of Transportation is working on a project to rehabilitate the North Glebe Road (Route 120) bridge over Pimmit Run. The goal is to improve safety for people driving, bicycling and walking and to extend the overall life of the bridge.

Planned improvements include repairing and resurfacing the bridge deck; repairing, waterproofing and providing corrosion protection to abutments and piers; repairing, cleaning and painting beams; replacing pedestrian walkway railings; and upgrading guardrails and drainage.

A public meeting will be held next Tuesday to provide details about the project and expected impacts as VDOT prepares for the start of construction in fall 2020.
