Residential Permit Parking -- Applications Now Being Accepted for 2018-2019

Dear Resident,

It is now time to renew your Residential Permit Parking Program permits and passes for the new program fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018. Remember enforcement continues throughout the year, so new passes/permits must be displayed by July 1st, 2018.

For those who haven’t yet applied, please go online to https://rppp.arlingtonva.us. If applicable, be sure to have a credit card and the vehicle registration for any new vehicles you wish to get permitted. For those who don't register online, application forms and information will be mailed to you at the end of April. 

In order to receive your permits and passes by July 1, the deadline to receive applications is June 1. Due to the large quantity of renewals, a four-week turnaround time is required to process the requests. Please remember that your vehicles must be registered with Arlington County’s Commissioner of Revenue to be eligible for the Permit Parking Program.

This new fiscal year the look of Short-term Visitor passes has changed. The focus of these changes is to make it easy to use and easy to enforce. Circles with months and days have been reintroduced in the Short-term Visitor Passes and the hang-tag feature has been removed. For the pass to be valid please shade in circles indicating effective month and day(s). Starting July 1, 2019 all Short-term Visitor Passes must be displayed in clear view on the dashboard only. The new design will contribute to a better enforcement of the Residential Permit Parking Program by the Arlington County Police Department.

We have clarified the Residential Permit Parking Program Replacement Policy to cover most of the cases in which residents would need replacement permits. We will begin enforcing fees when residents do not submit supporting proof for damaged permits. We will also begin enforcing the replacement fee of $20 for sold or traded vehicles.

The parking fee for Vehicle Specific Permits is prorated if you apply on or after January 1st.
