There's always something fun happening in Arlington County Parks!  Got a staycation this Spring Break?  Here are some fun options.  Hike a trail, visit a nature center, take your pooch to a park, drop in at a community center.  Go to Arlington Today to see what's happening.  We've posted some of our favs below.  Enjoy!

Monday, April 10

Show Off Your Skills @ the Powhatan Springs Skatepark

Sunrise to 9 p.m. Open Daily. Free.

Enjoy nearly 15,000-square-feet of street-style elements, bowls

 and half-pipes in Arlington's popular skatepark!


Tuesday, April 11

Celebrate Earth Day

1-2 p.m. at Gulf Branch Nature Center. $5.

Join in the celebration of our fabulous earth – highlighting nature’s gifts. Come learn about stewardship and other ways to care for our planet. Ages: 3 – 5 years.

Wednesday, April 12

Earth Fest

10 a.m. – noon at Arlington Mill Community Center. Free.

Join us at this free, fun Earth Day Festival and learn about compost, recycling, energy efficiency, and much more.

 

  • Learn about recycling in Arlington

  • Learn about worm composting
  • Plant flowers to take home (first 50 participants)
  • Create upcycled art
  • Enjoy eco-friendly nutrition & fitness activities

Thursday, April 13

Check Out the Civil War Ruins at Ft. CF Smith

Park is open daily sunrise to sunset. Free.

This beautiful 19-acre site includes a lush tree canopy, an open meadow, the lovely Hendry House and preserved earthworks of the Civil War fort built in 1863, and many other outstanding features.

Friday, April 14

Wiggly Worms Campfire

7-8 p.m. at Gulf Branch Nature Center.

The whole family is invited to join us at the Gulf Branch fire ring for lots of old-fashioned fun including stories, special animal guests, games, songs and of course, S’mores!

Saturday, April 15

Meet up @ a Community Center Game Room

Various hours. Free.

From checkers to table tennis, pool to ping pong, test your gaming skills at one of our community centers.

Sunday, April 16

Remove Invasives

2-4 p.m. at Long Branch Nature Center. Free.

Join us as we keep the park free of destructive invasive plants. Work parties are held every month and are making a real difference. Adults, families, and teens are all welcome.
