On behalf of the
Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth & Families, I invite you to join
us in a five-part intergenerational Community Conversation on race and racism
called “Let’s Talk about Race.” This important series, which is
open to adults and high school youth, will consist of facilitated dialogue in
large and small groups by way of a thoughtfully designed curriculum focused on
examining race and racism through a review of: federal housing policies
and the creation of the suburbs, race as a social construct, socialization to
race, racial microagressions, cultural appropriation, political movements for
change, and minority achievement and achievement gaps.
The Partnership is
pleased to be working with the organizers of Challenging Racism Through
Stories and Conversations. We also are thankful of the support
received from the Arlington Department of Human Services, Arlington Public
Schools, and the Arlington Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court Services
Unit.
We encourage you
register early for the Community Conversations: Let’s Talk About Race
because space is limited. We look forward to seeing you on October 26,
November 16, January 11, February 15, and March 29!
