Overview:
As evidence by the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, room for growth exists in creating a care environment for homeless housing settings that mitigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and promotes person-centered care. To address this need, VA's National Center on Homelessness among Veterans partnered with the National Health Care for the Homeless Council to create A Clinical Resource Guide for Community Care Centers During the COVID-19 Pandemic. This live webinar will provide a roundtable discussion with homeless housing program managers and others involved in providing care to homeless populations. This discussion will explore practical ways to implement this clinical resource guide’s guidance and reflect on the challenges of providing a homeless housing care environment and lessons learned. We will also consider recommendations that may further mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while promoting person-centered care in homeless housing settings and that may be utilized post-COVID-19 pandemic.
A Clinical Resource Guide for Community Care Centers During the COVID-19 Pandemic may be accessed on VA's Homeless Programs Office COVID-2019 website (under Information for Service Providers Helping Veterans Who Are Experiencing Homelessness) and VA's Homeless Programs Office Outreach Tools site (under Medical Booklets).
Audience: Multidisciplinary staff serving Veterans at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness. Participants may include but are not limited to physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors, case managers, housing specialists, peer support specialists, team leaders, supervisors, and Network Homeless Coordinators.
