When you’re working to deliver the right care for Veterans’ unique needs, it helps to have clear guidance. That’s where VA’s Clinical Determinations and Indications (CDI) come in.
Each CDI lays out what you need to know to help determine whether a service or procedure is clinically appropriate for your Veteran patient. They outline clinical requirements, considerations, and limitations.
Referencing CDIs before providing care also increases the speed at which VA processes your requests for services. You can access the library of published CDIs from VA’s CDI library end user agreement.
Full details about CDIs, frequently asked questions, training, contacts, and resources are available on VA’s CDI webpage.

If a Veteran you care for is facing mental health or substance use challenges, share stories from fellow Veterans who have overcome similar struggles.
Hearing firsthand accounts of setbacks, decisions, and turning points can inspire your patients to seek help, pursue effective treatment, and rebuild their lives.
Share these stories from VA’s National Recovery Month website and encourage your patients to explore more. Their path forward can be strengthened by hearing someone else's experience.
