The VA Long Beach Veteran Appreciation Committee hosted a special Independence Day chalk‑art event to honor our nation and the Veterans who served. Our community came together to fill the sidewalks with messages and chalk drawings of pride, gratitude, and freedom.
To ensure all Veterans could participate, we also offered patriotic rock painting — a meaningful and accessible option that allowed Veterans in wheelchairs or those preferring a seated activity to be part of the celebration.
Thank you to everyone who shared their creativity, spent time with fellow Veterans, and helped us honor the holiday in such a vibrant and heartfelt way.

VA updated its appraisal process regarding Minimum Property Requirements (MPRs)—the standards a property must meet to be eligible for a VA-guaranteed home loan—to reduce delays, cut outdated rules and help Veteran homebuyers move faster in a competitive housing market.
The updates are now in effect, reflected in the revised VA Lenders Handbook (Pamphlet 26-7), Chapter 12.
