  • Drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel thirsty.
  • Schedule outdoor activities carefully.
    • Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
    • Pace yourself.
  • Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
  • Check on a friend or neighbor and have someone do the same for you.
  • Never leave children or pets in cars.
  • Check the local news for health and safety updates

Celebrating 10 Years of the SAVAHCS Fisher House

Welcome to the Fisher House

For a decade, the SAVAHCS Fisher House has stood as a sanctuary of comfort, care, and community for the families and caregivers of hospitalized Veterans and service members. Built on the belief that no family should face a medical crisis alone, the SAVAHCS Fisher House provides free lodging just steps away from the VA hospital—ensuring loved ones can remain close during treatment and recovery.

What is the Fisher House?
It’s a fully furnished, “home away from home” designed specifically for Veteran and service members families. Guests enjoy private suites, shared kitchens, laundry facilities, and warm communal spaces—all offered at no cost, thanks to donor support.

The SAVAHCS Fisher House gives families stability during uncertainty, community during hardship, and peace of mind when it matters most.
