Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death with most cancers found in later stages. It is one of the few cancers that is completely preventable and can be successfully treated in the early stages, yet 4 out of 10 Veterans in VISN 4 have not been screened.
When colorectal cancer is found and removed early, the chances of a full recovery are very good. Screening for the disease is important because symptoms are very rare in the early stages.
