 Wilmington VA Medical Center hosted a Veteran Town Hall and Claims Clinic on Feb 19, 2026. Approxiamtely 80 Veterans, their families and community members attended to hear updates and ask questions to Wilmington VA leadership, which included Interim Director Ms. Thandiwe Nelson-Brooks (pictured above).  During the town hall, individuals from the Wilmington VA (WVA), Vet Center and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) were recognized for their outreach efforts in Delaware by the Sussex County Vietnam Veterans of America. (L-R) Delaware Veterans Affairs Secretary Karen Berry, WVA Patient Experience Officer Mark Taylor, WVA Public Affairs Officer Valerie Harwood, WVA Interim Director Thandiwe Nelson-Brooks, Vet Center Outreach Specialists John Richter and Freddie Allen and WVA Eligibility Specialist Antonio Hall. Also recognized but not present were WVA Outreach Specialist Patrick Devlin and VBA Regional Supervisor Suzzette Moore.
The Wilmington VA hosts Veteran Town Halls annually in Sussex, Kent and New Castle County Delaware and in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem County, New Jersey. The Sussex County event was the first of this fiscal year. Our next Veterans town hall is scheduled for March 18 from 11:00am - 12:00pm and a Veterans resource fair hosted by the Cape May County Military & Veterans Affairs Committee along with Citizens Veterans Advisory Committee will be from 9:00am - 2:00pm.
