Whole Health: Remind Veterans to slow down

|
Beginning January 2026, VA will transition to paperless explanation of payment (EOP) documents for providers who file claims directly to VA. You will be able to view these online through the Electronic Claims Adjudication and Management System (eCAMS) Provider Portal (ePP).
The shift to digital EOPs offers several benefits, such as faster access to payment information, less physical paperwork, and reduced environmental impact.
If you haven't signed up for ePP yet, here's what the system allows you to do:
- Register your provider organization.
- Add providers and users from your organization.
- Search claims and view real-time claim status updates.
- Locate payments and check numbers.
- Retrieve and review electronic EOPs – no physical storage needed.
- Review bills of collection and offset actions.
To get started, visit the VA eCAMS Provider Portal. Before creating an account, please review the ePP - Registration Prerequisites. For instructions on setting up your account and using ePP, refer to the ePP - Step by Step Guide. Those documents are available in the training documents section of the portal.
Still need paper EOPs? Once your ePP account is set up, you can choose to continue receiving them. If you're unable to create an account, you can still request to receive paper EOPs by emailing eCAMSHDSupport@va.gov. Include your National Provider Identifier (NPI), a VA claim number (TCN) associated with your organization, and your phone number and email address.
Learn more about VA claims status or call the Community Care Contact Center at 877-881-7618.

The 2026 VA Fee Schedule is now available, with rates going into effect January 1, 2026.
When there’s no contract-negotiated or Medicare rate in place, the VA Fee Schedule ensures payments are fair and consistent for hospital, medical, and extended care services.
To help ensure smooth billing and timely payments, we encourage you to review the 2026 VAFS and understand when these rates apply. Visit the VA Fee Schedule webpage to learn more.

External Provider Scheduling (EPS) is VA’s preferred method for booking Veteran community care appointments, and it’s available nationwide. Here’s four ways it’ll make your life easier:
-
Direct Appointment Scheduling. VA schedulers can view appointment availability and book appointments directly in your system.
-
Fewer No-Shows, Phone Calls, and Faxes. With EPS, VA can better match Veteran preferred times and locations while reducing back-and-forth coordination.
-
Referrals Are Included. When we use EPS to book an appointment, VA will include a referral confirmation.
-
It’s Free. VA does not charge community providers to sign up for EPS.
More than 16,000 community providers have signed up for EPS, with more joining daily. Onboarding is simple, and it’s easier than ever to get started. Learn more or contact us directly at EPSProvider@va.gov.

The winter holiday season can be a particularly challenging time for many of the Veterans you care for. As their provider, you can make a difference by reminding them to slow down and practice self-compassion.
Self-compassion is a simple but powerful way to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and promote healing. It’s also closely tied to VA’s Whole Health approach, which emphasizes mindful awareness and resilience.
You can help Veterans take a step back and hit pause by sharing resources focused on self-compassion, such as this Self-Compassion Break video. They can also explore VA’s Whole Health library of self-care resources.
