Veterans Day honors all who have served, but do you know how it started?
Originally named Armistice or Truce Day at the end of World War I in 1918, it became Veterans Day after Veterans pressured Congress in the 1950s to change the name.
Learn more at va.gov and search Veterans Day.
The Nebraska Western-Iowa VA will honor this day with a Wreath Laying on Monday, Nov. 10.

We’re proud to recognize our Inpatient Food Service team at the Omaha VA for going above and beyond to care for one of our Veterans. When they learned he was struggling to eat, the team took the time to discover his favorite foods and prepare them with care.
On Friday, October 24th we performed the first surgery with our new DaVinci 5 surgical robot. Omaha VA Medical Center is the first hospital in Omaha to use this device in surgery, and only the third VA hospital in the country to have it. Surgeons performed a bilateral hernia repair with mesh using the robot, which allows minimally invasive surgery that improves patient outcomes. Congratulations to our Surgery department for this step forward!
 When: Wednesday, November 5, 10 a.m.
Where: Omaha VA Hospital, Healthy Teaching Kitchen, 3rd floor
How to Join: Let us know you're coming! Space is limited. Reserve your spot by clicking the 'sign-up' button below and choose 'RSVP Now'.
