Vets, receive your free flu vaccine

Veterans receive your free flu vaccine at the Wilmington VA or at any of their 5 VA Clinics in Delaware or southern New Jersey, starting Sept. 22 until Dec.5, 2025. Flu vaccinations will be available after Dec 5 by appointment only.

Ways to receive your free flu vaccine:

1. Show up at the Wilmington VA walk-in flu vaccine clinic being held inside our West entrance, near POW/MIA display. 8:30am - 3:30pm (signs will be posted). No appointment needed.
2. Walk-in flu vaccine clinic at one of 5 VA Clinics. 1:00pm - 3:30pm.
3. Flu vaccine can be requested during your scheduled appointment with your provider at any location.

Local WWII Veteran honored

WWII Veteran Ray Firmani with Wilmington VA Interim Director, Kim Butler

Local Veteran earns a place on Wilmington VA's Wall of Honor on what would have been his 104th birthday. 1LT Ray Firmani, WWII B-17 pilot in the Army Air Corps was honored posthumously on Sept 19 for his military and community service. The Wilmington VA staff enjoyed Ray's enthusiam and stories during his visits. Pictured is Ray with Wilmington VA's Interim Director, Kim Butler during his 102nd birthday party. She presented him with a letter of recognition for his service. The Wall of Honor display is located on the ground floor in the physical therapy hallway. Celebrating our Environmental Managament Services team during Environmental Services Week, Sept 14 - 20. Our EMS team takes care of maintaining cleanliness, waste & linen management, and infection control throughout our medical center and Community Living Center. If you see one of our EMS team members during your appointment please pass on a compliment to them for all the great work they perform on a daily basis!

Eating well on a budget is possible! Buy in bulk and take advantage of frozen or canned produce. Learn how to improve your food security and try budget-friendly recipes with guidance from your VA dietitian.

Honoring fallen police and those currently serving on 9/11 bike run, Delaware State Police rode around the Wilmington VA campus prior to making their way to the Delaware beaches. Click on pic to watch video.



Mental Health care

Wilmington VA Chief of Staff, Dr. Rick Hong spoke to community leaders about mental health care available to Veterans at the 2025 Mental Health Summit on Sept 16, hosted by the Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition and Delaware Mental Health Association. Sept. is Suicide Prevention & Awareness month. If you are in crisis call 988, then press 1.
