Q&A: Why move to direct deposit to pay CHAMPVA claims?

April is Whole Health Month: VA resources to share with your Veteran patients |
|
|
If you take patients under the Civilian Health and Medical Program of VA (CHAMPVA), you must set up electronic funds transfer (EFT) to get your claims paid by direct deposit.
Is switching to direct deposit required or optional?
Getting paid by direct deposit is a federal requirement. It is not optional.
By enrolling in direct deposit, you help ensure CHAMPVA claim payments are secure, efficient, and compliant with federal mandates while safeguarding Veteran family members’ access to benefits.
Who do I call for help with the webform?
Call the FSC help desk at 877-353-9791.
CHAMPVA is a health care program for qualified spouses, widows(ers), and children of eligible Veterans. Through CHAMPVA, VA shares the cost of certain health care services and supplies with eligible beneficiaries.

Whole Health puts the Veteran, not their symptoms, at the center of their care decisions. You can start a conversation with your Veteran patients by asking them to think about how they would like to approach their health. It could be waking up with less pain, reducing stress, or moving more.
Here are some VA resources you can share with your Veterans.
Personal Health Inventory: Veterans can plan their personal health by looking at their hopes, desires, and goals. The inventory walks them through areas of life that affect health and identifies self-care that fits with their well-being priorities.
Veteran-Led Courses: There are two in-person sessions led by peers at VA facilities: “Introduction to Whole Health” and a follow-up “Taking Charge of My Life and Health.” During these courses, Veterans teach about Whole Health practices and help Veterans take steps to create personal health plans. VA.gov has a list to help Veterans find the right person at their nearest VA facility for more information.
Circle of Health: The Circle of Health helps Veterans explore connections between important aspects of their lives and their health and well-being.
If you know a Veteran who can benefit, you can offer these resources to help them on their journey. You can also find more resources and information on the VA Whole Health website.

You can help connect Veterans to timely, high-quality care by opting in to VA’s External Provider Scheduling (EPS). When you opt in, VA staff will schedule appointments directly into your scheduling grids. EPS has proven that it makes patient care and VA workflows with community providers more efficient. In other words, it saves time and eliminates back-and-forth between you, the Veteran, and the scheduler.
EPS is operational at 30 VA sites nationwide and expanding to more locations this year!
