Phone Extension Update
The Wilmington VA Medical Center and our VA Clinics in Delaware and southern NJ have changed from a four-digit extension to a five-digit extension. When dialing an extension it now requires a "3" to be dialed in front of the 4-digit extension.
When calling, dial: 1-800-461-8262 then your EXT 3-XXXX
This change is part of a modernization project by the VA Office of Information Technology to enhance our telephone voice system.
Flu Season
Yearly flu and COVID vaccines are now available for enrolled Veterans at the Wilmington VA Medical Center and our VA clinics in Delaware and southern New Jersey.
Walk-ins are welcomed from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday inside our 1st floor Primary Care Team lobby area at the Wilmington VA Medical Center.
Our VA Clinics will offer walk-in flu and COVID vaccines in and County, Delaware and , and County, New Jersey from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. In addition, the flu and COVID vaccines will be offered at all outpatient primary care appointments.
Cybersecurity Month
VA has more than 400 Privacy Officers nationwide to safeguard sensitive Veteran information. It’s an important job because Veterans have more sensitive information to protect than the average citizen does—due to VA benefits and services you’ve earned. And cyber scammers and fraudsters know that. They view Veterans as high value targets, and that’s why Privacy Officers are on the front lines ready to address any Veteran privacy questions and concerns. National Depression Awareness Month
October is Depression Awareness Month. If you are experiencing feelings of intense sadness or hopelessness, it may be a sign of depression. VA is here for you with resources and treatment options. LGBTQ+ History Month
September 20th marked 13 years since “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” was officially repealed. For many of these veterans, following a call to serve meant keeping their private lives entirely private, for fear that exclusionary policies would hold them back or end their careers altogether. Learn more here.

Wilmington VA Medical Center announced that it has housed 161 Veterans experiencing homeless in Delaware and southern New Jersey this fiscal year.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced the award of $15.9 million in grants to fund adaptive sports, recreational activities, and equine therapy for Veterans and service members living with disabilities.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Cemetery Administration awarded $44,553,338 in grants for the expansion and/or improvement of state Veterans’ cemeteries during fiscal year 2024. These grants help deliver timely and accessible burial and memorial services to Veterans.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it will award more than $4.3 million in cooperative agreements to states and territories to help fund and provide technical assistance to suicide mortality review committees.
