Update to James A. Haley Hospital and ALL clinics will be closed for in person appointments Thursday 9/26If a Veteran experiences a medical emergency, they should call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest open emergency room. For virtual urgent and tele-emergency care, Veterans can contact the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400 around the clock or visit www.visn8.va.gov/ccc.asp for more information. The center is staffed with doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, and administrative professionals who can assist Veterans.
Important information about pharmacy and medications: VA has activated the Pharmacy Disaster Relief Plan through Heritage Health Solutions. Eligible patients with Veterans Health Identification (VHIC) in need of an emergency supply of medications can go to any retail pharmacy within the Heritage network with a written VA prescription or active VA prescription bottle, not older than 6 months and with refills available, to receive a 30-day supply. This does not include controlled substances.

The telephone line is open for Veterans for Hurricane Coverage from 7am-9pm Monday through Friday (Central Time), 10am-3pm Saturday (Central Time), and closed on Sunday.
If a Veteran is displaced, has lost his or her medication, and no longer has a written prescription or bottle, they can contact their local VA Medical Center or the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400. Veterans may also use their VA Health Chat app on their phone between the hours of 8am and 4pm EST Monday – Friday, excluding federal holidays.
