CSRD bids a fond farewell and sends best wishes to Lisa Eiben who has joined the Durham VAMC as Director of Research Operation with General Medical Research. This follows a recent 4-month detail with Durham and 4.5 years as CSRD Administrative Officer. Lisa has 27 years of Federal service including a 22-year stint with the National Institutes of Health before joining CSRD. During her time with she us she also served as CSRD budget analyst and as a mentor for Maria Negrete, who along with Sara Clark, will continue to provide budget services following Lisa's departure.

While in CSRD, Lisa was an active member of the Wellness Subcommittee of the Employee Engagement Tiger Team (EETT) whether leading a brain break to kick off an ORD All-Staff meeting or actively participating in EETT sponsored events such as picnics and gatherings. She also was an integral part of the Financial Initiative Group and the ISRM Administrative Functions Workgroup. In her new role with the Durham VA, she is looking forward to continued support of VA/Veterans in a different capacity.

Lisa’s attention to detail and enthusiasm for both work and play have been assets to CSRD and ORD and are sure to be missed by all

Animal Subjects April

Animal Subjects Research Review JIT area processing is being handled outside of eRA via IRBNet. Stations with “IACUC Administrator” access in IRBNet should follow the instructions provided in the “How-To Guide for IACUC Administrators.” The guide is available from the office of the CVMO. Submit the package with the version of the protocol approved by the IACUC to the “VA Chief Veterinary Medical Officer (CVMO), Washington, DC” board. 

 Once the secondary review is completed, the office of the CVMO will submit a record of the secondary review process into eRA and approve the JIT area. To allow time for the secondary review process, please submit the protocol in IRBNet as soon as it has been approved by the IACUC and the applicable certification statements have been signed. There is no need to wait.
