Whole Health is everywhere: get connected

Whole Health Circle

Feeling well involves a lot more than treating symptoms. That’s why VA has moved from a conventional health model to Whole Health, an approach that considers you as a whole person.

Whole Health is everywhere in VA health care settings, from primary care and mental health to specialty services to Whole Health coaching and well-being programs.

Whole Health goes beyond illness and injury to address all aspects of your life. In Whole Health, your care team works with you to develop a plan based on your priorities for your own health.

In other words, Whole Health is about what matters most to you – not what is the matter with you.

For example, you may have diabetes, but your biggest concern is that you aren’t sleeping well. In addition to managing your blood sugar levels, you need to know how to tackle the sleep issue. Whole Health provides resources for self-care, from sleep improvement to moving your body to making healthy food and drink choices.

The Circle of Health helps you explore connections between important aspects of your life and your health and well-being. Improving one area can benefit other areas and influence your overall physical, emotional, and mental health.

The Circle of Health includes 8 areas of self-care:

  • Moving the body
  • Surroundings
  • Personal development
  • Food and drink
  • Rest and recharge
  • Family, friends, and coworkers
  • Spirit and soul
  • Power of the mind

Don’t just live – live well by living Whole Health. Start your Whole Health journey today by connecting with the Whole Health staff at your local facility or talking to your primary care provider
