A new surgery waiting area is open on the 2nd floor across from 2G and the ICU. On average, we perform about 125 surgeries each week at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, and most of those patients have guests waiting for them. This aesthetically pleasing new space, designed by our team of interior designers, will offer a more comfortable space for family and friends of our Veterans in surgery.

Kevin Krogh is lucky to be alive.
In 2007, while stationed in Virginia as an active duty member in the U.S. Air Force, the Jordan resident spent 16 days in an induced coma after he and a friend got into a car accident.
The crash left Krogh brutally injured and unconscious, forcing his parents to make the tough decision to amputate both Krogh’s legs from above the kneecap. After finally waking up, Krogh had the tough task of learning how to walk again. ...Read more

She was up early getting ready and styling her hair as she did every morning, but this wasn’t like every morning, this was surgery day. “Today is my dream come true, finally,” said Chanin Reese.

She started a life filled with numerous diets, you name it she tried it, but none of them helped. ...Read more

Minneapolis VA Medical Center nurse, Teresa Capecchi exemplifies the profound impact of organ donation. Just over eight years ago, she discovered that a close family friend, Jackie, was struggling to find a kidney donor. The observance of Mental Health Month in May provides another opportunity to encourage Veterans to obtain the care they deserve. To that end, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is highlighting stories from Veterans who describe, in their own words, how mental health treatment has vastly improved their lives. Their stories are featured at MakeTheConnection.net/mhm.
Mental Health virtual events are scheduled throughout the month May, see Minneapolis VA website.
