In this issue:
The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System respects a Veteran’s right to make decisions about their care, treatment and services and to involve their family in their care decisions.
Our updated visiting hours are between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Overnight visitation is not authorized, except in the case of end-of-life care.
For complete details on the updated policy visit: VA Salt Lake City Health Care Policies | Veterans Affairs
In one of the largest-ever expansions of Veteran health care, all Veterans exposed to toxins and other hazards during military service—at home or abroad—are now eligible for VA health care.
This expansion of VA health care eliminates the phased-in approach called for by the PACT Act, meaning that millions of Veterans are becoming eligible for VA health care up to eight years earlier than written into law.
If you have buddies that served, please share this info and link for them to check their eligibility today: Register For Care | VA Salt Lake City Health Care | Veterans Affairs

Feeling well involves a lot more than treating symptoms. That’s why VA has moved from a conventional health model to Whole Health, an approach that considers you as a whole person.
Whole Health is everywhere in VA health care settings, from primary care and mental health to specialty services to Whole Health coaching and well-being programs.
Whole Health goes beyond illness and injury to address all aspects of your life. In Whole Health, your care team works with you to develop a plan based on your priorities for your own health.
In other words, Whole Health is about what matters most to you – not what is the matter with you.

A few things to remember if you visit an emergency room in the community.
- You or someone on your behalf MUST call the Emergency Notification number within 72-hours of the ARRIVAL at the ER at: (844) 724-7842.
- Emergency Room visits reported within the 72-hours are paid through TriWest VACCN Claims. If not reported within 72 hours, it may impact your eligibility for VA to cover the cost of treatment.
- If the ER provider refers you for specialty care, contact your VA Primary Care Provider or your Community Care Primary Care Provider to assist with the coordination of the care before seeing the outside provider.
- If you receive a bill for your ER visit (facility, radiologist, ER physician, etc.) call our Community Care Contact Center at: (877) 881-7618 opt. 1, then opt.2.

REMINDER:
At this time, open gym time for Veterans at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center gym is not currently available. We are working on a solution to provide the required supervision necessary to allow us to offer open gym times to Veterans.
Legally, the VA is required to provide adequate supervision for safety purposes if allowing Veterans to access the gym.
