Starting March 5, 2024, the VA is expanding health care to millions more Veterans.
All Veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving our country at home or abroad – including all Vets who served in the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other combat zone after 9/11 – are now eligible for VA health care.
Veterans and survivors can learn more about the PACT Act by visiting VA.gov/PACT or calling 800-698-2411 (TTY: 711).

Joseph Gurin enlisted in the Army in 1983. His service as an infantryman, and later a special forces weapons sergeant, took him to Fort Campbell, Fort Brag, Korea and several places oversees. He got out in 1992, a Gulf War Veteran, and made a new home for himself in Minnesota. While his service is thirty years in his rearview mirror, he continues to show up for his comrades.
Gurin is one of more than one million Veterans who are part of the Million Veteran Program (MVP), the VA’s largest research effort. The goal of the program is to help find new ways to detect, prevent and treat health conditions that matter to Veterans.
On a recent visit to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, Gurin shared why he chose to be one of the one-million. “It’s the right thing to do. If it’s going to help one person, it’s worth it. It’s worth my time, its worth everything.”...Read more

Earlier this month at Hyland Hills Ski Area in Bloomington, Veterans like U.S. Air Force Veteran Jose Garcia, who has Multiple sclerosis, were shredding the slopes. “This event made me feel giddy like a child. It was the most fun I have had in years! It was the closest sensation to flying. I can’t wait to do it again. More Veterans need to know more about adaptive skiing!”...Read more

In January 2024, Vicky Garrison, President of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), Minnesota chapter, made history as the first female Veteran to receive an exoskeleton at the Minneapolis VA, marking an historic moment in her spinal cord injury recovery and treatment.
"I don't use the word life-changing very often, but this device has opened up areas in my life that were completely closed. I can walk again, I can hug my loved one’s heart-to-heart, and it really has enhanced my day-to-day life."... Read more
