Lung cancer fair

Dear Veterans,

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Sadly, lung cancer is the deadliest cancer among Veterans and the second most common cancer in both men and women. Lung cancer screening and early detection can save lives. There are new diagnostic guidelines for lung cancer screening. Veteran’s Health Administration has developed a program to tackle this: Lung Precision Oncology Program (LPOP). If found in its earliest stages, lung cancer can be cured. Getting the information out is paramount.  Knowing what’s going on in your lungs is easier than you think. A low dose CT scan takes a few minutes.

In recognition, there will be a Miami VA Lung Health Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Auditorium. Did you know a robot can help diagnose lung cancer? Did you know we can prevent lung cancer deaths? Do you know how healthy your lungs are? If you answered no to any of these questions, please join us to get answers and test drive the robot yourself! All Miami VAHS staff and Veterans are invited, and there will be light refreshments.

Experts from your Miami VA will provide info on lung cancer screening, advances in helping people quit smoking, timely evaluation of pulmonary nodules and info on the newest treatments for lung cancer. Come hear about the current clinical studies taking the fight to lung cancer.

Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to seeing you there!

Respectfully,

The Miami VA LPOP Team
