Program Description:
This presentation will advance participants understanding of two specialized multi-disciplinary post-graduate training opportunities in research and treatment of mental health disorders in VA: the Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Advanced Fellowship and the VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Advanced Fellowship
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Advanced Fellowship aims to develop future mental health leaders to transform mental health care systems in the 21st century by emphasizing functional capability, rehabilitation, and recovery. Applications are invited from psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation, marriage & family therapy, counseling, and divinity.
VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment
The goal of the VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment is to place health professionals at the 28 VA Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Centers (MIRECCs) and VA Mental Health Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for training to become leading clinical researchers in high priority areas of mental health. Applicants are invited from psychiatry, neurology, radiology, internal medicine, other areas of medicine, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, nursing, or pharmacy. Presenters will describe primary training activities and the application and selection process.
