Dear San Francisco VA Health Care System Subscriber:
The VA has partnered with the Hoopa Valley Tribe of California and the Yurok Tribe of California to host VA Outreach/Claims Events. These events will be focused on identifying and assisting Veterans who may have service-connected disabilities from a military injury and/or be eligible for a VA pension claim. A service-connected disability is a condition that VA presumes is related to military service, although the condition may first appear after discharge from the military. These conditions may qualify for VA compensation payments.
During the events, representatives from the Oakland Regional Office and Veterans Benefits Administration will be present to review and process new disability claims, potentially change existing claims, and answer appeals questions. Veterans are encouraged to bring their DD-214 forms, any non-VA related medical evidence and in-service medical records, if available.
Information on health care and other VA benefits will be provided by the VA San Francisco Healthcare System and the VA Office of Tribal Government Relations. In addition, VA Loan Guaranty Specialists will be on hand and Loan Specialists who specifically handle the Native American Direct Loan Program. These events are free to the community.
Please note that two separate events will take place:
