Melanie Bennett, PhD & Alicia Lucksted, PhD

VISN 5 MIRECC / University of Maryland School of Medicine

September 13, 2022
12pm – 1pm EST / 9am - 10am PST

Program Description:

VHA Directive 1163.07 establishes Early Psychosis Intervention Coordination (EPIC) for Veterans experiencing early psychosis. EPIC is based on an evidence-based model, Coordinated Specialty Care, that is being implemented nationally. This live, virtual, knowledge-based presentation targeting healthcare teams will review the background that led to the development of Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) and describe the elements of the practice. The presenters will then discuss findings from qualitative research regarding factors promoting engagement in these services, which can guide VA mental health treatment practitioners. They will also review lessons from the national implementation of CSC that can apply to working with early psychosis patients in VA.
