NEW STATEMENT ON RECOVERY-ORIENTED LANGUAGE
The Mental Health Lived Experience Community of Practice (MHLE COP) is proud to release their newest Consensus Statement on Language with principles, suggestions, and applied examples for recovery-oriented language in VA settings.
|
|
The MHLE COP is a community of practice for VA mental health care staff with lived mental health experience. Their newest statement addresses language, including body language, and how we can strive to optimize that language to improve experiences for Veterans and VA employees living with mental health challenges in order to optimize care and recovery for Veterans.
The goals of this Language Statement are to raise awareness of the importance of language and encourage new ways of speaking and thinking that are empowering, inclusive, positive, and encouraging. The MHLE COP Language Statement is available on the MHLE COP website.
Please visit the website for additional information about joining the MHLE COP, requesting a speaker or consultant for your VA facility, and other consensus statements and academic journal articles.
