Program Description:
This presentation will provide tips and tools for peer specialists for sharing their story and help other mental health staff understand how peers use their lived experience to support Veterans’ mental health recovery journey. This session explores the difference between an “illness story” and a “recovery story” and allows participants to experience the power and potential of Peer stories as a tool to educate and inspire others. The session will discuss the four components of a recovery story and discuss when it is appropriate to share your story and why. We will discuss recovery goals, tools and other tips.
