News & Announcements

At this time, the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System is not providing the third COVID vaccination (booster dose).  Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System will share more details when available.

Veterans who received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine AND are in an immune compromised group (identified below) may contact their clinical care team via phone or secure message using My HealtheVet (www.myhealth.va.gov) for more information regarding a third vaccine.  We are unable to accept walk-in immune compromised Veterans at this time.

Individuals that are immune compromised are those with medical conditions or receiving treatments that are associated with moderate to severe immune compromise, such as the following:

  • Active or recent treatment for solid tumor and hematologic malignancies
  • Receipt of solid-organ or recent hematopoietic stem cell transplants
  • Severe primary immunodeficiency
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids, alkylating agents, antimetabolites, tumor-necrosis (TNF) blockers, and other biologic agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory
  • Asplenia
  • Chronic renal disease

Note – this list is not exhaustive, and your clinical care team is best able to tell you if you have immune compromise that is similar to what is listed above.
