COVID-19 Update - March 4, 2021
Changes to age group now 55 and older
Earlier this week, Milwaukee VA lowered the age threshold -- from 65 to 60 -- for enrolled Veterans to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
Now we're lowering it to 55.
The new threshold is effective immediately and will include the walk-in clinic 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the medical center, 5000 W. National Ave.
Any Veterans unable to get vaccinated Saturday due to the clinic reaching capacity early will receive an appointment to get the shot at a later date.
Staff will continue calling Veterans and using VEText to schedule appointments.
If you previously opted out of VEText or want to check if you are still “opted in” to receive texts, you may send a text message to 530-79 with the message “Start”.
Be the first in your age group to get the vaccine by joining the walk-in clinic on, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 6, 2021 at Milwaukee VA Medical Center. If the clinic capacity is met on March 6 before 2 p.m., then you will receive an appointment before you leave the campus.
COVID-19 vaccines virtual town halls for Veterans
Recently, Milwaukee VA’s Infectious Disease Physician Dr. Nathan Gundacker, Pharmacy Chief Dr. Kimberly Bell and COVID-19 Response Team Director Dr. Ankur Patel hosted a virtual town hall with Veterans and the community discussing the vaccine rollout and talked about the history of COVID-19 and why the vaccine is in the best interest of everyone – to protect everyone.
The next COVID-19 vaccines virtual town hall will be March 10, from noon until 1 p.m. Follow the live video event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/742794639944198

Protect Everyone
As always, if you have already expressed your interest in receiving the vaccine, there is no need to share again, but if you previously expressed “no interest” or have yet to connect with your health care team about your decision, you can always call your health care team and let them know your decision on receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
You can securely message your health care team using MyHealtheVet at www.myhealth.va.gov or connect with your health care team by calling your clinic.
