Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System Holds Pop-Up Flu Clinics Starting October 1 |
|
The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System will host pop-up flu clinics at every facility starting October 1 to December 18, 2020. The clinics are open Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays. The best way to prevent flu and its potentially serious complications is to get a flu vaccine each season. Veterans enrolled in VA health care may use the pop-up clinic to get their seasonal flu vaccine with no appointment necessary. Those who have a VA health care identification card are asked to bring it for faster service.
“When people are busy, preventive health care like flu shots can be the first thing they overlook,” said Medical Center Director Amir Farooqi. “Providing needed health care in convenient settings encourages our Veterans to get the preventive care they need.” All vaccinations at our pop-up clinics will follow infectious disease control guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by masking, social distancing and hand hygiene. We ask you to please wear a mask when you come to our clinics. “Accessibility is a priority in delivering health care at VA,” said CAVHCS Health Promotion Disease Prevention Coordinator Brandy Taylor. “We provide flexible health care solutions so we can meet the needs of all the Veterans we serve.” If you receive your flu shot from an outside source, please let your Patient Aligned Care Team know when and where. Updates regarding clinic operations will be available at www.centralalabama@va.gov or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/VACentralAlabama. |
