EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS

New! Due to the floods and the impact on traffic routes around Puerto Rico caused by Tropical Storm Isaias, the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) announces that during Friday, July 31, 2020, they will offer only telemedicine services for outpatient clinics and that face-to-face outpatient appointments at the  San Juan VA Medical Center and all its clinics in Arecibo, Ceiba, Comerio, Guayama, Mayagüez, Ponce, Utuado, Vieques are canceled. Affected appointments will be rescheduled. The St. Thomas and St. Croix clinics in the United States Virgin Islands will be open.

The VA Caribbean Healthcare System is providing special attention and Interdisciplinary Teams have been contacting Veterans from the following specialty treatment areas: High Risk for Suicide, Hemodialysis, Radiology-Oncology, Hematology-Oncology, Homeless, Severe Mentally Ill, Spinal Cord Injury, Home Oxygen and patient under Anticoagulation medication among other. Please contact the VA if you or any Veteran in your family from these groups have any medical need.

Veterans who require immediate urgent care services can call the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400 for 24/7 support. This service is not to be confused with emergency services. For more information about the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center, please visit www.visn8.va.gov/ccc.asp.

Visitation Hours continue to be suspended until further notice.

To reduce risk during emergencies we encourage Veterans to use our virtual care options (Telehealth, VA Video Connect, VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center) for most primary care and mental health services.

Pharmacy: Veterans are exhorted to request medication refills by using one of the following options:

-By Phone:  Call 1-877-737-8820 and follow instructions.
-Online/Internet: Visit My HealtheVet at http://www.myhealth.va.gov/  
-By Mail: Send mail refill form to:  VA Caribbean Healthcare System (119), Casia 10, San Juan PR 00921.
-IMPORTANT:  Veterans without refills or have questions about a prescription should call the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400 immediately.

The Heritage Emergency Prescritpion Refill Program expired on July 15, 2020.
