Dear OVAHCS Veterans,

Audiology

As the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) works to keep your safety the top priority, certain preventative measures are in place (As listed below).  These measures include a health screening entering the facility, along with practicing the social distance guidelines of maintaining a six-foot separation between you and others where possible to reduce COVID-19 exposure. To best abide by the recommendations, Audiology will no longer be able to offer walk-in services until further notice. Moving forward, Audiology will only accommodate scheduled appointments. Audiology offers various options to continue to receive care during this change, you may call or send a secure message to request an appointment. Scheduled appointment choices include- face-to-face, virtual, or car-side. Based on your medical needs, the appointment type will be scheduled.

If you are in need of a repair for your hearing aids, please drop the devices off at the below specific locations. Once fixed your belongings will be shipped to your door.

To drop off your hearing aids in need of repair, please visit the below location of your primary Audiology site of care:

  • Orlando VA Medical Center- Audiology Clinic (1J) front desk
  • Lake Baldwin VA Medical Center- Gate screening entrance station
  • Viera VA Health Care Center- Gate screening entrance station
  • Daytona Multispecialty VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic– Front door screening entrance station
  • Tavares VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic- Front door screening entrance station

Because it is still important to take precautions to limit exposure to and the spread of COVID-19 or other illnesses, safety measures have been implemented until further notice.

Please be aware of the below expectations when arriving to your appointment:

  • If a caregiver must drive you to your appointment, they will not be permitted to accompany you to your appointment unless medically required. In addition, no children under 18 are permitted into the facility (including infants).  
  • Everyone is required to wear a face covering in our facilities. Patients and their caregivers are permitted to wear homemade or cloth masks if they are clean and fully cover the lower part of the face (nose to chin).  If you do not have a mask upon entry, we will provide one to you. Employees will wear VA issued surgical masks or personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on their job.
  • We are making changes to waiting areas, check-in desks and other common spaces to encourage social distancing. Please maintain a six-foot separation between you and others where possible. Additional space between seating, limited elevator capacity, visual markings on floors are just a few of the changes you will notice when visiting our facilities.
