Veterans, if you have flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath, call us at 713-794-8985, before you visit your Houston VA or CBOC. In addition to calling first, consider using virtual care options such as telehealth or My HealtheVet Secure Messaging. Visitors, if you do not feel well, please postpone your visit.

Beginning Monday, March 9, 2020, we will be SCREENING ALL Veterans, visitors, and employees who enter our main medical center and CBOCs. We encourage patients to arrive early for their appointments.

The screening consists of three questions:
1. Do you have a fever, cough, or other flu-like symptoms?
2. Have you traveled to China, Japan, Italy, Iran, South Korea, OR other countries/regions known to have positive cases of coronavirus in the last 14 days?
3. Have you been in close contact with someone, including health care workers, confirmed to have the coronavirus disease?

Our main goals are to protect our staff and uninfected patients and limit the spread of COVID-19 transmission. We know that screening all who enter our facility will slow down our operations, but it is the right thing to do to protect the health and safety of all.

VA is asking patients, staff, and visitors to help slow the spread of infection. Visitations to the Houston VA are now limited.

The following groups of people should NOT visit patients:
• Persons with a fever or cough
• Persons who are feeling sick
• Children and adolescents under the age of 16

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Patients are limited to one visitor.

All who enter our facility will be screened. We ask all visitors to wash their hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before and after visitation. Visitors are limited to immediate family or caregivers.

Patients are reminded to:
• Bring only one person to your clinic visit.
• Ask for a mask upon entering the facility, if you are sick.
• Wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol based hand sanitizer before and after your appointment.

Thank you for helping us protect the health and safety of all who enter your Houston VA!
