Everyone experiences PTSD in different ways. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • Reliving the traumatic event
  • Avoiding situations that remind you of the event
  • Negative changes in beliefs and feelings
  • Feeling keyed up

Symptoms may start immediately after the event, or they may start weeks, months or even years later. They can also come and go over time.

The National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder has free resources available for you to help those you serve learn more about PTSD, its symptoms and treatment options. Visit our website to download these resources or request printed copies.
