VA Launches Video Series: Women Veterans' Stories of Service
Veterans Health Administration sent this bulletin at 11/15/2011 01:11 PM ESTVA is building a video library that documents women in the United States Armed Forces, from their significant contributions to national safety and security to the ongoing challenges faced during their service and after returning to civilian life. Each story – some recent, others less so – offers a fascinating glimpse into our nation’s history and the vital role women have played. Watch their stories:
Peggy Mikelonis, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, describes transitioning back to civilian life after the Vietnam War. Watch her story.
Katrina Goldby, U.S. Army Reserve, served stateside for nine years before deploying to Iraq after 9/11. Watch her story.
Vivian Greeno, U.S. Navy, advocated for expanded roles for women in the military, specifically aboard submarines. Watch her story.
Brigadier General Wilma Vaught, U.S. Air Force, was the first woman ever to deploy on a strategic air command. Watch her story.
