Dear GI Bill® beneficiary,
As part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Service’s efforts to migrate all GI Bill functionality to an updated secure platform, system maintenance will be occurring during the month of July. This maintenance could potentially delay the disbursement of July monthly benefits payments.
If you would receive a Montgomery GI Bill (Chapters 1606 and 30) or Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35, also known as DEA) payment in the month of August, you may receive your monthly benefits payment and/or kicker payment later than usual if your term ends between July 28 and August 1. However, payments are expected to be made no later than Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Additional impacts include:
-
VA System Limitations: During the period of Friday, July 25, 2025, through Sunday, August 3, 2025, several VA systems will be temporarily down or will provide out-of-date information. This will limit or delay the information that an Education Call Center representative can provide to you during this time. If possible, we ask that you hold any questions until after this period.
-
July Enrollment Verification: Your enrollment will be automatically verified for the month of July. Please continue to verify your enrollment monthly beginning at the end of August.
We appreciate your patience and support as we complete these vital system upgrades. If you have any questions concerning VA education benefits or how payments will be made, please contact us through AskVA or call our Education Call Center at 888-442-4551 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central Time, Monday-Friday.
Respectfully, Education Service
