Good afternoon GI Bill students,

As the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Service works to update its payment award letters, it has come to our attention that a recent update has created some confusion about the payment dates. Our current payment letters may not be updated before the end of the month, so VA wanted to provide you with clarification of what the information provided in the current letter means.

If your award letter looks like the image above, the "Payment Date" provided is not the date that you will receive the payment. The "Payment Date" is the date that funds were authorized to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

You can expect your housing and/or kicker payments to be paid in the same manner as you have been accustomed.

We apologize for any confusion this wording may have caused and are working to update the language in our letters in the near future.
