Following the Digital GI Bill (DGIB) payment system upgrade in July, the Department of Veterans Affairs Debt Management Center (DMC) identified accounts impacted beyond the brief delay anticipated for payment applications.
To ensure there are no negative impacts to students or education and training institutions (ETIs), DMC paused referral of all Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) debts to the Department of the Treasury in September.
ETIs may have noticed delays in receiving their first debt letter from DMC during the month of September. This issue was resolved moving forward except for a small group of accounts with letters still pending release. We apologize for any inconvenience, and request you do not submit check payments until your DMC debt letter is received.
Respectfully,
Debt Management Center
