Our records indicate that you had two bank accounts in the VA payment system. As we previously informed you, VA has consolidated your multiple bank accounts to a single account for payment purposes. This change is occurring for all individuals who are receiving VA Education and other benefits with multiple bank accounts.
The last payment to the account associated with your Education Service benefit will be May 1, 2024. Future Education payments will be paid to the non-education benefit payment account for most beneficiaries. You can log into to VA.gov to see which account your benefits will be deposited into. If you want to update your bank account information online, step-by-step instructions can be found on our GI Bill website.
The purpose of this bank account consolidation is to modernize the GI Bill system, reduce fraud and improper payments, and ensure we pay Veterans on time, every time, and without error. This new platform will improve claims processing and customer service by providing direct, online, one-stop access to GI Bill benefits and information.
Please be aware of how this change may affect any ongoing autopayments from the original account where your VA education benefits were deposited.
