Tomorrow, April 20, 2024, VA will consolidate all individuals with multiple bank accounts to a single account for payment purposes. In most instances, accounts will be updated to the non-education benefit payment account. There are no extensions or exemptions from this process. If no action is taken today, your accounts will be consolidated tomorrow.
Our records indicate that as of April 16, 2024, you have multiple bank accounts listed in our system for your VA benefits. If you have taken action to correct this since April 16, 2024, you can disregard this message.
If you have not taken action to correct this, today is the last day for you to make this change. Barring immediate action from you, the account your education benefits are paid to will be changed to mirror the other bank account you have on file with VA.
Notify VA immediately what account you would like all VA benefits to be sent to. You can do this by following the instructions found on our GI Bill website.
If you want to update this information online, step-by-step instructions can be found on our GI Bill website. You can watch a how-to video on making this update here.
If no action is taken, the last payment to the account associated with your Education Service benefit will be May 1, 2024. After this date all payments will be made to the other bank account you have on record. Be aware how this may affect your ongoing autopayments to the original account where your VA education benefits were deposited. VA has no insight or control into your personal payments and is not responsible or liable for any missed autopayments or account overdraws due to you not properly updating your account information.
VA strongly advises you to update your information now.
Kind regards,
Veterans Benefits Administration
