This Saturday, April 20, 2024, VA will consolidate all individuals with multiple bank accounts to a single account for payment purposes. During this consolidation, in most instances, accounts will be updated to the non-education benefit payment account.
Please Note: There are no extensions or exemptions from this process. If action is not taken, your accounts will be consolidated.
Our records indicate that as of April 9, 2024, you have multiple bank accounts listed in our system for your VA benefits. If you have taken action to correct this since April 9, 2024, you can disregard this message.
If you have not taken action to correct this yet, your immediate action is required.
You must notify VA what account you would like all VA benefits to be sent to by following the instructions found on our GI Bill website. If you want to update this information online, step-by-step instructions can be found on our GI Bill website. You can also find a how-to video here.
If no action is taken, the last payment to the account associated with your Education Service benefit will be May 1, 2024. After this date all payments will be made to the other bank account you have on record. This may affect any ongoing autopayments you have set up to the account where your VA education benefits are deposited, and in a worst-case scenario may result in a missed autopayment or an overdraw of an account.
VA strongly advises you to update your information now.
Kind regards,
Veterans Benefits Administration
