On April 20, 2024, VA will consolidate all individuals with multiple bank accounts to a single account for payment purposes. During this consolidation, in most instances, accounts will be updated to the non-education benefit payment account.
Our records indicate that as of April 2, 2024, you have multiple bank accounts listed in our system for your VA benefits. If you have taken action to correct this since April 2, 2024, you can disregard this message.
If you have not taken action to correct this yet, your immediate action is needed. Formally clarify what account you would like all VA benefits to be sent to by following the instructions found on our GI Bill website. If you want to update this information online, step-by-step instructions can be found on our GI Bill website.
VA is aware that in today’s modern world, many individuals may have bank accounts set up with autopay to automatically pay bills or expenses. VA is aggressively messaging this consolidation update to ensure that you are not negatively impacted by an unforeseen change in where your payments are deposited to, which could result in a missed autopayment or an overdraw of an account. You have received, and will continue to receive, these messages until your bank account information is updated or until the April 20, 2024, consolidation occurs.
The purpose of this bank account consolidation is to reduce fraud and improper payments. To watch a how-to video, see here.
VA appreciates your prompt action.
Kind regards, Veterans Benefits Administration
