The administration of GI Bill benefits requires a strong and collaborative relationship between educational institutions, their School Certifying Officials (SCOs), State Approving Agencies (SAAs), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to ensure that GI Bill benefits are delivered properly and timely to students. After careful deliberation and consideration of SCO feedback, VA is formally recommending a ratio of one full-time SCO to every 125 GI Bill students at an educational institution. VA understands the importance and impact that this ratio may have on the resources made available for Veterans, Service members and their dependents. This information is a recommendation only and should be used as guidance to assist your school in delivering service to GI Bill students.
The SCO Handbook will be updated to reflect this updated recommended ratio.
Please see the letter the Executive Director of Education Service, Mr. Joseph Garcia, shared with School Leadership earlier.
Respectfully,
